Maximize Your HD 7700 Ultima With The Onyx 3-in-1 PPS

Onyx HD7700How can you improve the speed and productivity of Rhin-O-Tuff ‘s top-of-t he-line Onyx HD7700 Ultima? This high-volume machine runs at 25 cycles per minute and punches up to 55 sheets at once, but the operator must still perform manual operations of picking up stacks of papers to be punched, putting them in the machine, removing them, and stacking them before adding the binding. By adding the Onyx 3-in-1 PPS (Pick-Punch-Stack ) module to the machine, you can reduce operator handling time to produce more ready to bind packets per hour.

The 3-in-1 PPS offers three functionalities that you can also purchase separately:Piks-A-Lift (PAL) module and the Automatic Paper Ejector and Stacker (APES) module.

Prepare To Punch With The PAL-14

The Piks-A-Lift (PAL) 14 module lifts a group of sheets to prepare them for punching. Able to handle up to three reams of paper, the device senses the amount of paper you need and lifts the top right corner of the appropriate stack so that you can easily grab it with your thumb and forefinger and drop it into the punch. If you have a 32 sheet/64 page booklet, you set the dial on the front of the PAL-14 module to the correct thickness, and the PAL will automatically advance approximately 32 sheets per lift..

Available in a manual or semi-automated format, it can even handle clear covers, tabs, and oversized covers. When purchased separately, the PAL-14 works with any Rhin-O-Tuff OD or HD punch unit.

Take It Away With The APES 14

The Automatic Paper Ejector and Stacker (APES) module ejects papers from the punch and neatly stacks it. When bought separately from the 3-in-1 PPS, the APES-14 works with the HD7700, HD7000, or the HD6500 to handle paper from 5.5” x 5.5” up to 14” x 14”. The operator just has to drop in a stack of papers, and the machine punches the pages and slides them to the left, where they are dropped into a waiting tray. The operator can then pick up the completed packet and perform the binding step.

Selecting The Winning PPS Team

When teamed together as the Rhin-O-Tuff 3-in-1 PPS, the modules increases the capabilities of the HD7700, as shown by this speed test video.

  • HD7700: The HD7700 can punch a ream of paper in 1 minute, 56 seconds. This includes the time for the operator to gather the paper, put it into the machine, and stack it.
  • PAL-14: Using the Pick-A-Lift, the operator picks up an automatically-selected packet of paper and drops it into the machine. Which takes 1 minute, 39 seconds for a ream.
  • APES-14: Using just the APES in conjunction with the HD7700, the operator can process a ream of paper in 1 minute, 26 seconds.
  • 3-in-1: When the HD 7700 is fitted with the whole 3-in-1 system, the time for processing a ream of paper drops to a mere 56 seconds. By nearly halving the amount of the handling time per ream, the operator is able to knock out high-volume jobs much more quickly.
